Ms. Valencia is a bicultural/bilingual clinical social worker, with a specialization in family therapy and adolescents. Her work has been primarily with healing family trauma, young adults and couples in crisis. She specializes with:
Young adults dealing with alcohol/drug dependency issues (vaping, social media, electronic dependency, codependent toxic friendships).
Emotional separation anxiety.
Fertility issues and grievances.
Assessing and repairing various communication conflicts that occur in marriages, long term relationships and healing their dysfunctional reactive dance to a dance that is better and more enjoyable for all.
Specialized Therapies
Ms. Valencia has received her 9-year extensive training at The Ackerman Institute, where she was a project member for over 9 years. There she collaborated with pioneers in the field and studied different relational patterns, generational beliefs, and cultural values as it impacts depression symptoms in families and adolescent habitual behavior patterns that need healing caused by generational damage.
Currently Ms. Valencia is in full- time private practice, both in South Miami, Florida , and NYC. She conducts workshops at the University of Miami, various rehab centers in Coral Gables, Miami and provides clinical consultations here at Latino Support.
Ms. Valencia obtained her SIFI training at New York University in 2006 and continually provides clinical supervision for LMSW, LCSW and PhD clinicians and candidates alike. She is available at our office and remains part of our clinical psychotherapy team, for consultations and evaluations, as needed.
