Kissy Avila is a licensed master social worker in the state of New York working with adults and the young population. Kissy studied Professional Studies in Human Services program at Metropolitan College and received her Master of Social Work from Fordham University in the State of New York. Since 2012 Ms. Avila began her journey of working with the elderly and young adults as a substance use counselor in a Community-Based Organization in New York, harnessing her therapeutic skills in demanding environments. She has experience working within a CBT and Trauma Informed Care framework.
As a therapist, Kissy works to assist individuals to facilitate positive change, better emotional and social functioning in order to improve client’s feelings of satisfaction and their overall quality of life. She specializes in working with adults, the young population and families who deal with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, adjustment, relationship issues, and substance use.
Ms. Avila focuses on working hand in hand with her clients in building strategies that allow to address the root causes of difficulties and helps build a helpful and strong social connection. She is a passionate and empathetic Bilingual English/Spanish therapist with strong counseling abilities; committed to helping multicultural communities learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves and their loved ones. Ms. Avila is invested in working continuously with minorities as she aims to help individuals achieve empowerment, resiliency, and a more fulfilled and balanced life.
